Ride & Play Day
Tri-Rail presented its annual “Ride & Play” day on Saturday, April 21, which provided families a great opportunity to experience the train while traveling to the region’s best attractions. As part of “Ride & Play,” riders enjoyed onboard fun for all ages on select trains complete with costumed characters, balloon artists, magicians, giveaways and the chance to meet some of their favorite radio personalities from Y100, HOT 105, Amor 107.5 and KOOL 105.5.
Passengers who showed their validated train tickets received exclusive Ride & Play discounts and offers from Palm Beach Zoo, Pérez Art Museum Miami, Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and Xtreme Action Park. Tri-Rail carried 8,791 passengers on Ride and Play day, the fourth highest daily ridership of any Saturday in the history of the transit system.
With $5 all-day weekend fares, hourly weekend service and children under five riding free, Tri-Rail is the convenient, inexpensive way to explore the best of South Florida!

SFRTA Transit Development Plan Major Update

The TDP Major Update is SFRTA’s comprehensive strategic planning, development and operational guidance document that forms the basis for defining public transit needs and opportunities for the next 10 years.

SFRTA Wins 1st Place Adwheel Award
The SFRTA won a 1st Place AdWheel Award presented at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) 2018 Marketing & Communications Workshop. The agency won in the category “Shoestring Tactic – Best Marketing and Communications to Increase Ridership or Sales” for the 2017 Ultra Music Festival campaign effort. The campaign targeted South Florida millennials who were interested in attending the three-day music event.
Some of the highlights for this effort included Tri-Rail carrying 7,675 passengers on March 25, the seventh highest daily ridership of any other weekend day in the history of the system at that time. The promotion included the chance to win a pair of tickets to the event where over 700 people registered. Tri-Rail also had special trains running at the end of each concert which carried over 300 passengers taking the train back home.
SFRTA’s 1st Place Award entry will be submitted for a second round of judging for a chance to win a Grand Award at APTA’s Annual Conference in September 2018.

2018 Miami Marlins Day Games
Enjoy major league entertainment right in your back yard by going to a Miami Marlins daytime home game taking Tri-Rail. Games with a start time of 12:10 p.m., 1:10 p.m. and 4:10 p.m., are easily accessible with Tri-Rail’s schedule. The Marlins Express Shuttle runs from the Metrorail Culmer Station 90 minutes before the games start and 60 minutes after they end. The City of Miami Trolley can also transport passengers to Marlins Park from the Metrorail Civic Center for free. (Not available on Sundays.)
Regular Metrorail and Metrobus (for Marlins Express) fares apply. Please remember to allow additional time for transfers on your travel.
